What To Expect During Your Session.

Comfort: During your session, if you are uncomfortable in any way, please let me know. For instance, you may be too warm or too cold, the music may be too loud or too soft. You may not like the candles burning, or you may want your neck elevated. Whatever will make you more comfortable, I want to know: this is your session.

Pressure: Reflexology should never hurt. If you experience any pain you are to notify me immediately. But reflexology is a pressure work. So I will be applying pressure to your feet. Some of it will be feather light and some is quite deep. If you have any discomfort during the session let me know. For instance, if you are feeling my fingernails and it is bothering you, or if a particular range of motion movement with your foot is uncomfortable let me know. I will never apply any kind of pressure that would lead to any injury to your foot.

Your Session: Your first reflexology session will be a combination of relaxation techniques and actual reflexology point treatment work. Some of the points I will be working will be tender. Tenderness is not always an indication of a problem elsewhere in your body. Tenderness can mean many things; i.e. tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, calcifications, misalignment of bones, scar tissue or adhesions or ill fitting shoes. Sometimes pain in the foot is a result of stepping on a pebble. Some people prefer more time utilized with the acupressure treatment work. But some people don’t like treatment work at all. They prefer the escapism, deep relaxation and the sense of floating away that reflexology can offer. That will be up to you. With this first session I will expose you to both. Later you can tell me which you preferred and what you are expecting. This may change from session to session. Please be aware that some reflex points are held longer than others.

Talking: If you have any questions, during the session always feel free to ask. As necessary I may ask you some questions. But I won’t chat during your session. It interferes with your relaxation and my concentration. However, once again, this is your session. So if you are more comfortable chatting for a while, feel free. A lot of clients need to chat for the first five or ten minutes of a session. They find that very relaxing. Sometimes they run out of steam and fully relax; sometimes they chat for the whole session and that is fine, too.

Tell Me: Please remember that you cannot offend me. The next time you come in let me know what you liked or disliked about the previous session. For instance, if you loved the work with your hands and you thought that I didn’t spend enough time on them. Tell me. If you disliked the ear reflexology, tell me. You may want the whole time spent on the feet, let me know. I will tailor your session exactly the way you want it.

Call Me: If you any questions about any of the effects of reflexology after the session, please don’t hesitate to call me. I love to hear about any effects. Be aware that you may feel depleted or exhilarated after a session. Usually people notice increased relaxation and energy. It is important to drink an extra glass of water after a reflexology session.

Please Know: I am not a doctor. I do not practice medicine. I do not diagnose or treat for any specific illness. Reflexology is not a substitute for medical treatment. The thoughts I offer are only my opinion. You may discontinue a session at any time.

Two Final Thoughts:
1. There are no ugly body parts. I do not want to hear that you think your feet are ugly, or that you are not pleased with any other body part. That is negative self-talk and I won’t participate with that. It is a waste of my time and a waste of your worth. While you are in this room you are completely beautiful, healthy and whole. That is the only self-image that is allowed in my session room.
2. I believe that thoughts are things. During your session actively picture problems dissolving and flowing away. You may want to envision a golden healing light around you. Thoughts and intentions are a powerful source of wellness – utilize them!
